Here's where I've been spending my time recently, and
this was from the 4th of July on the National Mall:
(Click on the thumbnails for full-size
images)

I was standing right next to the Washington monument for
the fireworks (see the far right photo).
The helicopter above was one of three that flew circles around the Mall ALL DAY
LONG. Can you say "security"?

Note how close the Monument is in the above pictures
against how far away it is on the first picture below. It's a long walk
from one end of the mall to the other. The red building is the Smithsonian
for those who haven't seen it before.

These two pics above were taken from the same spot.
One end of the mall to the other with the Capitol on one end, the Monument WAAY
down on the other...

Above is "Freedom Park" in Rosslyn right next to my office
building. The first photo is a big piece of the real Berlin Wall.
The next is from the other end of the Park. The park is like a highway
on-ramp, ground level at the Berlin wall and then it climbs up and around and
between the two big silver/blue buildings. The last photo is in the middle
of the park between the two silver/blue bldgs. in the previous photo. The
blue/green building you are looking at (next to the Newseum Dome) is our office
building. Neat way to walk to work, eh?
